Instructions
Put the egg into a small saucepan, and fill the saucepan with enough water to come to a level 1 inch higher than the egg. Place the saucepan on the stove.
Turn the stove on high, and bring the water to a boil. Turn the stove off after the water boils, and cover the saucepan with a lid. Let the egg sit in the hot water for 15 minutes, covered, on the stove.
Remove the egg from the hot water with tongs, and place it into a bowl of ice water. This stops the egg from continuing to cook and helps the shell to peel easier. Keep the egg in the ice water for five minutes to cool completely.
Remove the egg from the bowl of water, and place it on a paper towel. Discard the ice water from the bowl, and place the bowl back on the counter for later use.
Hold the egg, and hit it hard against the counter, causing the shell to crack. Grab hold of one piece of cracked shell and peel it off. Continue to peel the entire egg shell off the hard-boiled egg onto the paper towel. Discard the paper towel, and place the egg back into the bowel.
Cut the hard-boiled egg up into small pieces for the hamster. The pieces should be about 1/2-inch-by-1/2-inch long so the hamster can hold the pieces of egg. Hamsters like to nibble on small bits of food as they are holding it.
