How to Make Plastic Tubing

To maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, hamsters require lots of exercise. Hamsters spend a lot of time either running around in a wheel or ball. Many hamster owners find that plastic tubing keeps their hamsters even more active. This plastic tubing can be purchased at a pet store, and you can buy several tubes that connect to each other. However, if you are looking at building a long tunnel made from these plastic tubes, it can get quite expensive. Water bottles are one way to make your own plastic tunnel, which requires very little material.

Instructions

    • 1

Grab one of the plastic water bottles, and hold firmly on a hard surface where you can hold it steady. The bottle should be lying parallel with the hard surface.

    • 2

Grasp the craft knife, and cut both ends of the bottle off by cutting evenly along the ridge of the bottle. Trim off any sharp pieces or bumpy ridges.

    • 3

Repeat the process with the remaining bottles.

    • 4

Take two of the bottles that you just cut, and fit their ends together so you are making the tube longer.

    • 5

Hold the two bottles together, and take duct tape around the seam where the two bottle ends meet. This will hold the two bottles together securely.

    • 6

Add more bottles if you need to make the tube longer, repeating the process for each bottle added.
