How to Attach a Water Bottle to an Aquarium

Many hamster and mice owners are choosing to keep their rodent pets in an aquarium as opposed to a cage. An aquarium can make an ideal situation for pregnant or infant rodents because it provides a draft-free area that will protect these delicate animals. In order to provide the animal with a constant source of liquids, a water bottle should be attached to the side of the aquarium. This can be easily accomplished with hook-and-loop fasteners.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the inside wall of the aquarium with a soft towel that has been soaked in soapy water. This will ensure the hook-and-loop fastener, such as Velcro, adheres more effectively to the surface.

    • 2

Allow the inner wall to dry completely.

    • 3

Cut a section of the hook-and-loop fastener with scissors that is large enough to fit onto the water bottle. Make sure to purchase hook-and-loop fasteners that come with adhesive backing.

    • 4

Place one side of the hook-and-loop fastener to the clean inner wall of the aquarium. Make sure to place the section low enough that it will allow the hamster to reach the water bottle.

    • 5

Attach the other side of the hook-and-loop fastener to the water bottle.

    • 6

Fill the water bottle and attach it to the inner wall of the aquarium.
