Do you have to split the boy and girl budgie up when there is an egg?

It is not typically necessary to separate the boy and girl budgie once the eggs have been laid. Once separated the pair may become stressed, reducing the chances of the female successfully incubating and hatching the egg.

Although not necessary, some decide to separate the birds to remove additional stress from the female so that she can focus solely on incubating. Should you choose to take this route, you will need to introduce them slowly in a neutral location.
