- Fear or stress: If your hamster is shaking, it may be scared or stressed. Look for signs such as hiding, running around in circles, or freezing in place.
- Cold: Hamsters can also shake if they are cold. Check their cage to make sure the temperature is comfortable and there are no drafts.
- Hypoglycemia: Low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, can also cause shaking in hamsters. If you think your hamster may have hypoglycemia, immediately give them a small amount of honey, syrup, or a sugar cube.
- Illness: Shaking can also be a sign of illness. If your hamster is shaking and showing other signs of illness, such as lethargy, a decreased appetite, or diarrhea, take them to the vet immediately.
- Wet Tail: Commonly affects younger hamsters and can be fatal. Other signs include, diarrhea and drowsiness.
