Are dwarf hamster scared of water?
Dwarf hamsters, like most other species of rodents, have an inherent aversion to water. Water can be a hazard for dwarf hamsters as their small size makes them susceptible to rapid changes in their body temperature. Wet fur and prolonged exposure to water can lead to hypothermia, a life-threatening condition. While dwarf hamsters naturally groom themselves and instinctively avoid direct contact with large bodies of water, they can tolerate bathing in small amounts of sand for a quick cleaning session. However, forced or prolonged immersion in water should be avoided to ensure the well-being and safety of the hamster.
