Are hamster big as a rat?

Hamsters and rats are both rodents, but they can vary greatly in size. Some hamster species, such as the Syrian hamster (also known as the golden hamster), can reach a length of up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) and weigh up to 1.5 pounds (0.7 kilograms). On the other hand, rats, such as the brown rat (also known as the Norway rat), can grow up to 18 inches (46 centimeters) in length and weigh up to 2.5 pounds (1.1 kilograms). Therefore, while some hamster species may be comparable in size to certain types of rats, such as the common rat (Rattus norvegicus), others can be significantly smaller.
