How many pandas live together?

Giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) typically live solitary lives, except during mating season. While they may have overlapping home ranges, pandas generally avoid each other and maintain their own individual territories. Adult males typically have larger territories than adult females, and their ranges may overlap with several females. During mating season, males will actively search for available females and may compete with other males for access to them. After mating, the male leaves and the female is solely responsible for raising the cubs.
