How long can a roach hold its breath?

Roaches don't actually hold their breath in the same way humans do. They breathe through tiny openings called spiracles, which are located along the sides of their body. These spiracles can open and close to control the flow of air, but roaches never completely stop breathing.

Here's why:

* They need oxygen to survive. Like all living things, roaches need oxygen to produce energy.

* They have a unique respiratory system. Their system allows them to take in oxygen even when they are submerged in water for a short period.

So, while they can survive being submerged for a short time, they don't hold their breath in the traditional sense.
