How does an aye-aye get insects?
Aye-ayes use a unique method to extract insects from trees. They tap on tree trunks and branches with their elongated middle finger, listening intently for the hollow sound that indicates a hidden insect. Once the aye-aye pinpoints the location of an insect, it gnaws a hole in the wood using its sharp teeth and elongated middle finger. The aye-aye then inserts its long, thin middle finger into the hole, feeling around until it locates the insect. The aye-aye uses its middle finger to hook and extract the insect from its hiding spot.
