What do weevil eggs look like?

Weevil eggs are typically small, oval, and pearly white or translucent in color. Weevils have 4 life stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Adult female weevils lay their eggs on or in the stems, roots, or leaves of their host plant. Depending on the species of weevil, some adults may also lay eggs inside fruits, seeds, or nuts. The eggs hatch into larvae that initially feed and develop on the inside of the plant material, creating tunnels or galleries. As the larvae grow, they eventually exit the plant material and can continue feeding and developing externally.
