Instructions
Introduce the female chameleon into the male's enclosure when you are ready to breed them.
Allow the pair three to five days to breed before removing the female from the enclosure.
Watch the female for signs of being ready to mate. If she is ready, she will become lighter in color and raise her tail to the male. If she is not ready, her color will turn darker and she will bob her head and sway.
Watch for other signs of aggression from the female, such as hissing or biting the approaching male. If you notice these signs, remove the female from the enclosure and try again in a week.
Remove the female from the enclosure and wait for her to bear young. Gestation can be between five and 10 months, according to Cham Owner's Web.
How to Breed Jackson's Chameleons
Jackson's chameleon is a strange-looking lizard. They have green bodies and the males have a distinctive horned face that resembles a triceratops. Originally from eastern Africa, Jackson's chameleons are now kept as household pets. They feed on crickets and mealworms. Jackson's chameleons are sexually mature between 9 months and 1 year of age. Breeding your Jackson's chameleons is an interesting way to observe their life cycle and watch their offspring grow.
