Things You'll Need
- Fruit and vegetables
- Crickets
- Calcium powder
Instructions
Fill your adult bearded dragon's food dish with vegetables at all times. Bearded dragons will not overeat with just greens. Some choices for vegetables include string beans, mustard greens, red leaf lettuce and romaine lettuce.
Gut load your crickets before feeding them to your bearded dragon by leaving small chunks of fruits and vegetables in the crickets' enclosure for 24 hours before giving them to your bearded dragon. This gives them nutrients to pass on to your reptile. Collard greens, apples, sweet potatoes and carrots all are good for gut-loading.
Sprinkle a pinch of calcium dust on the crickets just before feeding them to your bearded dragon. This gives your bearded dragon the calcium it needs.
Offer your adult bearded dragon one to two gut-loaded and calcium-dusted adult crickets twice a week or every other day. If your adult bearded dragon is on the small side and an adult cricket is larger than its head, go down to crickets that are only ¾-inch long.
