Instructions
Soak the bearded dragon in warm water for about an hour. Replace the water if it starts to get cold or fouled.
Massage the dragon's belly gently to see if you can break up any clumps. Be very careful, as baby dragons are fragile.
Feed the baby bearded dragon a few drops of mineral oil by placing them on its snout one at a time. Wait for it to lick up the oil before adding the next one. This acts as a laxative.
How to Clear an Impaction in a Baby Bearded Dragon
Impaction in reptiles is a serious condition that occurs when the animal ingests substances that it can't pass through its digestive system. This most commonly happens in bearded dragons when small lizards are kept on a sand substrate. They may eat large quantities of sand, which solidifies in their gut into a solid lump. It can also happen if the dragon is fed food items too large for it, or is kept at lower temperatures. Ideally the animal should be seen by a vet who specializes in treating reptiles, but if you don't have a reptile vet nearby, you can do a few things yourself to fix the problem.
