How do polar bears walk on such thin ice when they weigh so much?

Polar bears do not walk on very thin ice. Their primary habitat is the pack ice of the Arctic Ocean formed from frozen seawater. These ice sheets can be several meters thick and can therefore accommodate the weight of a polar bear.
