How to Bathe Mice

Mice have often been known as unwanted pests around the house, but domestic mice can also be loved pets and companions. Just like a dog or cat, mice need special care to keep them healthy and happy. Mice are actually similar to cats in regards to grooming and cleanliness. They are clean, self-grooming animals, and generally do not need to be bathed often or at all. However, if exposed and dirtied with feces or other unpleasant materials, mice can be bathed with care.

Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle a small amount of bath powder specifically for small animals or rodents on and around your pet mouse. Do this in its cage. The mouse will roll around and walk into the powder, which will have a self-cleaning effect.

    • 2

Wet a portion of a washcloth with lukewarm water. Ring out excess water so that cloth is damp and not dripping.

    • 3

Apply a small amount of antibacterial soap to the damp washcloth.

    • 4

Spot clean the mouse for feces or other stains that the powder did not remove. Do this gently and avoid getting soap or water in the mouse's face.

    • 5

Dry off the mouse gently with the dry end of the washcloth.
