How to Free Mice From Glue Traps

Glue traps are small boards with sticky adhesive. The trap is designed to capture any mice that run over it. Mice are unable to get free because the adhesive is strong and gets stuck to their feet, fur and other extremities. If you want to humanely remove the mouse from a glue trap, it's important to use extreme care and the proper tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour baby oil over the glue board, especially around the mouse. Be careful not to get baby oil into the mouse's eyes.

    • 2

Allow the baby oil to work its way into the adhesive for five minutes. It takes away the glue's stickiness.

    • 3

Put protective gloves on, and gently try to pry the mouse off. If the mouse is stuck at all, don't pull it off.

    • 4

Pour more baby oil around the mouse's body, and gently push a cotton swab under the mouse to get it off. Be extremely gentle as to not cause any more pain to the mouse.

    • 5

Take the glue board and mouse to a veterinarian if your methods prove unsuccessful.
