Can Mice Eat Peanut Butter?

Mice will eat almost "anything and everything." In their natural environment, mice naturally eat fruits and grains. Mice may eat peanut butter, and may prefer it to other foods because of the high fat content.
  1. Pet Mice Food

    • Mice may reject the peel of the cucumber and eat the inside only.

Mice enjoy a variety of foods including a mixture of seeds, beans and vegetables; pet mice may also enjoy live worms found at a pet store or bait shop. Pet mice are normally more sensitive to dietary changes than wild mice, so it is a good idea to introduce new foods slowly.

    How Much Mice Eat

    • Pet mice consume 5 to 8 g of food and 5 to 8 ml of water a day. Mice do not eat overeat, so feel free to leave out additional food in between feedings.

    When to Feed

    • Check food levels after your mouse's active periods.

Check food levels once or twice a day.

    Warnings

    • Never let a pet mouse out of the cage to roam around the house, or you may soon have a home infested with rats eating foods from your cupboards.

    Considerations

    • Peanut butter is better bait for mouse traps than cheese, since mice can not remove the peanut butter without the trap going off.
