Instructions
Before you begin reading this article on how to catch a mouse in your home you should understand a couple of things. You can use this article for live mouse traps, or if your problem with mice is out of control you can use this article to kill the mice. One thing you should understand about live mouse traps is most of the time the mice will return. If you are catching the mice and releasing them outside your home they will return. Instead the mice should be released at minimum 2 to 3 miles away from your home to avoid them returning again.
The first thing you will need is 5 wooden mouse traps. These can easily be found at stores like Aco Hardware, Lowes, or Home Depot. Some stores sell individual traps but to save money try and locate a store that sells the traps in multiples. A good place to start your search is online. Check out the websites of a few of the store you want to visit. Most will have an option were you can type in your zip code and check the stock of the local store nearest you. Once you have the mouse traps lay them out on a table and proceed to the next step.
Take out a slice of cheddar cheese for the mouse traps. Use a butter knife to cut the cheese into little squares just big enough to cover the bait area of the mouse traps.
Now take out your glue and begin one by one gluing the cheese to each of the mouse traps. Make sure to spread the glue across the whole area were the cheese will lie.
After you have finished gluing the cheese to each of the mouse traps let it dry for a few minutes. For faster results you should use super glue instead of longer drying time glues.
Once the glue is dry, now you can start setting each of the mouse traps. Make sure to set the mouse traps to sensitive and not firm. Setting the mouse traps to firm is a common mistake made by most people.
Next you can now proceed to place the mouse traps in areas around the home that you know the mice travel. Make sure the mouse traps can't be reached by small children so they won't be hurt.
All that's left to do now is wait. Check the mouse traps daily and if you catch one mouse there is always at least two more creeping around.
What makes this trapping method work is that it is impossible for the mice to remove the cheese from the mouse traps without setting them off. Even when you catch a mouse the cheese will still be glued to the trap that caught him.
In closing as mentioned earlier this method can be used for live mouse traps as well. For ease of remembering the steps in this article on how to catch a mouse in your home feel free to print, bookmark, or share these steps with a friend.
