What human food can a rabbit eat?

Rabbits are herbivores and their diet should primarily consist of hay. However, you can also offer them a variety of safe human foods in moderation:

Fruits and Vegetables:

* Leafy Greens: Dandelion greens, romaine lettuce, spinach, kale, cilantro

* Other Vegetables: Bell peppers, carrots (in moderation), celery, zucchini, parsley, broccoli (florets only)

* Fruits: Apples (without seeds), bananas (in moderation), blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, melon

Other Safe Foods:

* Herbs: Parsley, cilantro, basil, dill

* Timothy hay: This should be the majority of their diet.

* Pellets: Commercial rabbit food pellets should be offered in limited quantities.

Foods to Avoid:

* Fruits with high sugar content: Grapes, oranges, peaches, mangoes

* Processed foods: Potato chips, candy, bread, crackers

* Dairy products: Milk, cheese, yogurt

* Avocado: Toxic to rabbits

* Nuts and seeds: High in fat and can cause digestive problems

* Chocolate: Toxic to rabbits

* Onions and garlic: Toxic to rabbits

* Meat, fish, poultry: Rabbits are herbivores and cannot digest animal protein.

* Bones: Bones can splinter and cause internal injuries.

Important Notes:

* Introduce new foods gradually: Offer small amounts of new foods at first to ensure your rabbit doesn't have an allergic reaction.

* Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly: Remove any pesticides or chemicals.

* Offer fresh water daily: Rabbits need access to clean water at all times.

* Consult your veterinarian: They can provide personalized advice on your rabbit's diet.

Remember: A balanced diet of hay, fresh vegetables, and a small amount of pellets is essential for a healthy rabbit.
