Why do baby seals have fur but adult

It's not accurate to say adult seals don't have fur. All seals have fur, both as babies and adults.

However, there are some key differences in the fur of baby seals (called pups) compared to adults:

* Pups have thicker, denser fur: This provides extra insulation and warmth, crucial for survival in cold environments where they are born.

* Pup fur is often whiter: This helps camouflage them against the snow and ice, protecting them from predators.

* Pups lose their fur: As they grow older, they molt and shed their thick, white fur, replacing it with shorter, darker fur that blends in with the water.

So, while adult seals do have fur, it's different in texture and color from the fur of pups. This adaptation helps them survive in different life stages and environments.
