How to Make a Droppings Pan for Rabbits

Toilet training a rabbit makes cleaning its enclosure simple. It is also essential for house rabbits, unless you actually want a home covered in rabbit droppings. You may already have all you need to make a suitable pan for the droppings and urine. Suitable trays are also widely available from bargain stores, garden centers, pet stores and home stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Acquire a large plastic tray. It needs to be big enough for your rabbits to sit in comfortably and several inches deep. Cat litter trays are fine for all but the largest rabbit. Remove the covers before use, if it has one. Any other tray of a suitable size also works well.

    • 2

Line the tray with a few layers of old newspapers. Newspapers are a suitable lining because they are safe and a rabbit cannot kick them everywhere. Don't tear the newspapers into strips.

    • 3

Open a couple of sheets of newspapers and lay in a quiet location out of drafts. Place the droppings pan on top. Alternatively, fold an old sheet a couple of times and place below the droppings pan to catch any accidents.
