How to Make Rabbit Feeders

Rabbits require large amounts of hay, which can be left in the rabbit's enclosure at all times. Rabbits are grazers, so a rabbit feeder should be designed to accommodate large portions of hay to minimize enclosure maintenance. Rabbit feeders require few materials, and only a few steps to be put together properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the wire mesh for the feeder to fit in the size cage being used.

    • 2

Bend the lower 3 inches of the mesh into a loose U-shape. Make sure the wire bends enough to hold the hay, but is loose enough to stick out from the cage wall at a roughly 45-degree angle.

    • 3

Secure the mesh to the back wall of the cage, 2 to 4 inches above the floor of the enclosure. Use twisted wire, zip ties or another method of your choice to tightly secure the bottom and top corners.
