Small Room
-
Creating a bunny-proof room can sometimes be easier than adding an enclosure. To keep the room safe for a rabbit, remove all wires from the rabbit's reach and furniture low enough for the animal to get caught under. Set up the rabbit's litter box, hay and food dishes on top of a plastic chair mat to minimize spills on the carpet, and supervise your rabbit as often as possible.
Puppy Pen
-
Another option for indoor rabbit enclosures is a wire puppy pen. These can be easily configured to fit any area of your home, and can be easily reshaped if you change your mind. These pens come in various shapes and sizes, and can be large enough to accommodate all the essentials of a pet rabbit. Line the bottom of the pen with an old piece of flooring or carpet to prevent staining your floor.
Custom Enclosure
-
Custom enclosures can be an effective alternative for indoor rabbits. They can be built specifically to fit areas of your house, as well as to accommodate more than one rabbit. Some wire storage cubes can be customized into a variety of arrangements, often for less than the cost of a large enclosure. Do not build a custom enclosure out of chicken wire, however, as rabbits can chew through them.
Cage
-
Cages provide the least amount of space for a rabbit, and should not be used to house your rabbit full time. However, cages can be effective for short periods of time when your rabbit cannot be supervised. If your bunny is kept in a cage, make sure it has a flat place, such as a piece of carpet or wood, to stand or lie on because the wire cage bottom can injure its paws. In addition, make sure your rabbit gets at least a few hours outside the cage each day, urges My House Rabbit.

The Habitat of an Indoor Rabbit
Rabbits can be interesting and safe pets but can be very active. Rabbits can be housed in a variety of enclosures that allow them enough space to be active -- at least four times the size of a reclining rabbit. Enclosures can be designed for indoor use, intended for other animals or a bunny-proofed room in your house.
