Feeding Your Rabbit Vegetables
-
Although hay is one of the most important parts of your dwarf rabbit's diet, your rabbit also needs 2-4 cups of fresh vegetables per pound of body weight per day. Rabbits will eat many different types of vegetables so do not feed your rabbit the same thing every day. Offer at least two or three different vegetables every day. Organic produce is safest for your rabbit because it is pesticide-free.
Leafy Vegetables
-
Your rabbit will devour leafy vegetables like lettuce, collard greens, kale and spinach. You may also feed your rabbit leaves from raspberry bushes, pumpkins and clover. When following the "three different vegetables a day" rule, count all types of lettuce as one vegetable and offer your rabbit several additional choices such as carrots, broccoli or peppers. Never feed your rabbit iceberg lettuce because it contains very few nutrients.
Other Vegetables
-
Dwarf rabbits enjoy all kinds of vegetables, including broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, radicchio, carrots, eggplant, peppers, pumpkin and squash. When preparing vegetables for your rabbit, leave the tops on because your rabbit will eat them just as quickly as the rest of the vegetable. When purchasing produce from the store, however, harmful pesticides may be used on vegetable tops because humans do not eat them. Thoroughly wash all vegetables before feeding them to your rabbit and buy organic to make sure that no harmful pesticides were used.
Herbs
-
Dwarf rabbits readily consume all kinds of vegetation, including herbs. Offer your rabbit fresh herbs like basil, cilantro, mint, parsley and peppermint to add variety to its diet. The best way to procure fresh herbs for your rabbit is to grow them yourself. Many herbs do well as potted plants and they tend to grow fairly quickly. Plant a number of different herbs in your garden or in pots to keep yourself well supplied with healthy food for your dwarf rabbit.

What Vegetables Can Lion-Eared Dwarf Rabbits Eat?
Rabbits are herbivores which means their diets consist entirely of fruits, vegetables and grasses. Hays like timothy, oat and alfalfa make up the majority of a rabbit's diet but fresh vegetables are also needed to provide essential nutrients. Feed your lion-eared dwarf rabbit a mixture of vegetables every day to ensure that it gets all the necessary vitamins to stay healthy.
