How to Make Wire Nest Boxes for Rabbits

Once you decide you want to breed your pet rabbit and make baby bunnies, you will need to create a nesting space for the doe. There are commercial nest boxes available; but you can also build your own. Hang the wire nest box from the floor of your rabbit hutch. Having the nest below the cage floor will appeal to the doe's natural instinct to burrow.

Things You'll Need

  • 14 or 16-gauge woven wire
  • Wire cutters or small bolt cutters
  • 3/8-inch hog rings
  • Hog ring pliers
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Hay or straw
