Instructions for a Rabbit Cage

Keeping a rabbit as a pet leads requires the proper living environment. Rabbits cannot run free inside like cats or dogs. A rabbit can get hurt roaming free inside the house because rabbits tend to chew on wires. They need cages to live in and run around in. A small rabbit cage is economical and uncomplicated to create.

  • Sheet of corrugated plastic
  • Plastic cube shelving
  • Zip ties
  • Box cutter
  • Packing tape
  • Ruler
  • Marker

      If you have other pets, add a top to the cage to protect the rabbits.

      Tie shelving squares together with zip ties to make the sides of the rectangular cage.

      Place the cage on top of the corrugated plastic.

      Mark a square around the cage. Measure 6 inches extra around the cage.

      To keep the rabbits from escaping, make sure the holes are not too big.

      Draw lines from end to end, 6 inches from edges. These lines will make the walls of the base.

      Score the corrugated plastic along these lines.

      Cut flaps on each corner of the corrugated plastic.

      Fold up the edges to create the box. Tape the flaps to the sides.

      Place cage and bedding inside the box. The cage is complete.
