Things You'll Need
- Animal scale
- Kitten dose of Revolution (60 mg/ml)
- Tuberculin syringe with no needle
- Animal friendly cleaners
- Clean bedding and litter
Instructions
Weigh your rabbit on an animal scale, using kilograms. If you do not have an animal scale, ask your vet to weigh your rabbit or inquire about using a very sensitive postal or fish scale.
Purchase kitten strength Revolution from your rabbit's veterinarian. Kitten strength revolution is 60mg/ml instead of the standard 120mg/ml solution.
Suction .1cc of kitten strength Revolution per kilogram of your rabbit's weight into your tuberculin syringe. Ensure that there is no needle in the syringe, as Revolution is a topical medication, not an injection one.
Eject the measured Revolution dose onto your rabbit's fur, preferably between the shoulder blades so that he cannot easily lick it off. If that area is infested with mites, consult your vet for the best alternate application site. Your vet may instruct you to put a special cone around your rabbit's head to keep him from licking the medication off if you have to apply it somewhere that he can easily lick.
Clean your rabbit's cage thoroughly with animal friendly cleaners and then replace the old bedding and litter with clean items. Keep your rabbit's cage very clean while she is undergoing mite treatment in order to minimize her further exposure to fur mites.
Repeat the kitten strength Revolution application once per month for at least three months, or however long your veterinarian deems necessary. Remember to thoroughly clean your rabbit's cage after each dose.
