How to Clean a White Rabbit's Fur

Rabbits bathe themselves like cats do, by licking. Unfortunately, sometimes they get too dirty to lick themselves clean. This can be especially noticeable if the rabbit has white fur. Cleaning the fur of a white rabbit takes time and patience. Rabbits are naturally afraid of water and will be skittish to downright terrified when you try to bathe them. Always be gentle. Keep your white rabbit's cage clean and wipe him down with a damp cloth when you notice any dirt to keep baths to a minimum.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a bath tub with 1 inch of lukewarm water and add a few drops of rabbit shampoo. Swish the water around to mix well.

    • 2

Lay a towel in the bath tub. Most bath tubs are quite slick. The towel will help the bunny from slipping.

    • 3

Place your white rabbit into the tub. Be prepared for the rabbit to fidget, kick and maybe even scream.

    • 4

Scoop the soapy water into your palm and pour it over your white rabbit. Gently rub the soapy water over the rabbit's fur. Continue until the rabbit is clean. Pick away any large pieces of dirt or fecal matter.

    • 5

Let the water out of the tub and refill it with 1 inch of clean, lukewarm water.

    • 6

Rinse the soapy water from your white rabbit by scooping up the clean water in your palm and pouring it over the rabbit.

    • 7

Remove your white rabbit from the tub and towel dry gently.
