How to Build Angora Rabbit Cages

Angora rabbits are a special breed of rabbit with exceptionally long, soft fur known as wool. On average, an adult Angora rabbit will grow to a final size of 8 1/2 pounds and be covered from head to paw in long, soft fur. If you are desiring to breed Angora's, their average litter is five to six bunnies, each of which live an estimated life of 8 to 10 years. Help your Angoras live full, healthy lives with a comfortable rabbit cage.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold the 1 inch-by-1 inch wire into four sections. Use a measuring tape to measure out 36 inches for the first fold. Make the second fold at 30 inches from the last fold. Finally, measure 36 inches again for the final fold. This forms the sides of the cage.

    • 2

Space hog rings along the open side at 4-inch intervals to secure the open sides together.

    • 3

Cut a door opening using wire cutters into one of the 36-inch sides. The door should be at least 13 inches wide and spaced 2 inches from the top and bottom of the cage.

    • 4

Cut a 18 inch-by-12 inch rectangle from the 1 inch-by-1 inch wire. This will serve as the door.

    • 5

Connect the door to the door opening with hog rings.

    • 6

Attach the rabbit cage latch using hog rings. Attach the door side first, then close the door and attach the cage side so that they two line up perfectly.

    • 7

Cut a 2 inch-by-8 inch square into one of the sides for the feeder. Attach the feeder securely with hog rings.

    • 8

Cut a 36 inch-by-30 inch rectangle from the 1 inch-by-1/2 inch wire for the floor. Attach the floor using hog rings spaced at 4 inches.
