Things You'll Need
- Air filtration unit
- Allergy neutralizer
Instructions
Determine if the cause of your allergies is really from your rabbit. For example, see if you have similar symptoms when you're outside or when you're not around the rabbit. Consider seeing a doctor who can help you to investigate the cause.
Minimize all direct contact that you have with the rabbit. Try to not hold the rabbit in your arms or let it rub against your face. Try not to be around the rabbit longer than 5 minutes at a time.
Wash yours hands immediately after touching the rabbit. Also, if you are wearing glasses, you should wash them as well as there could be dander stuck the frame or lenses.
Clean the rabbit's cage frequently and wear a mask and rubber gloves if you must clean the cage yourself. Remove any waste, hay or old food from the cage. Keep the cage in a room that is mostly for the rabbit and store the hay in a large, air-tight container.
Purchase an air filtration unit that will collect fur, dust and particles from the air that could be causing your allergies. Keep the filter in your bedroom or living room to keep the allergens from traveling to these rooms.
Use an allergy neutralizer if the problem persists. Such products as AllerPet and AllerPet-C are liquid sprays that can be applied to your rabbit's fur. These products must be used regularly and applied as directed on the label.
