Is there an animal related to the panda bear?

The red panda (Ailurus fulgens) is not closely related to the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca). Red pandas form their own taxonomic family, Ailuridae, while giant pandas belong to the Ursidae family, which includes bears. Despite sharing some similarities in their physical appearance, such as a round face and a long tail, red pandas and giant pandas have different evolutionary histories, behaviors, and diets.
