Learn what companies are participating in animal testing studies. You may find that your favorite cosmetic companies perform animal testing before releasing their products. Once you know what businesses use this kind of testing, then you will know what companies to avoid purchasing products from.
Write to the companies that you find participate in animal testing and tell them that you will not be purchasing their products. Encourage your friends to write, too. If companies receive enough complaints, they may realize that their testing policies are bad for business.
Join PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and help support the group through monetary donations and by spreading the word as to the harm caused to animals by testing. PETA members are known for protesting at animal testing facilities, and the group also receives and publicizes reports of animal testing and cruelty.
Educate yourself. The more you know about animal testing, the more you can advocate the reasons why it should not be done. Some websites to check for more information include PETA, stopanimaltesting.org and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or SPCA.
Find out if your children's schools use animals for biology experiments through dissection. Talk to the principal about alternative methods in teaching children, such as computer software programs.
