How to Catch a Rat or Mouse

Rats and mice are common household problems. They find a way inside a home and then begin the search for food. There are many rat or mouse traps to choose from, but many of them are inhumane. However, there is a safe, effective way to catch mice that allows you to release them outside without every touching the rodents.

  • Large water bottle
  • Peanuts
  • Piece of thick cardboard
  • Tape
  • Scissors

Instructions

      Get a large, empty water bottle. Place the bottle cap to the side.

      Use scissors to make a couple of small holes in the bottle. These will function as air holes for the mouse.

      Put a few peanuts inside the bottle.

      Get a rectangular piece of thick cardboard.

      Use tape to secure the cardboard to the outside of the bottle's opening. This piece of cardboard will act as a ramp for the mouse.

      Place the bottle on the ground. Make sure the cardboard goes from the floor up to the opening of the bottle.

      Put the bottle cap on when you see that a mouse is inside the bottle.

      Take the bottle outside somewhere, unscrew the cap, and place the bottle back on the ground.
