  1. Rat Hammock

    • 1

Wash and dry your fabric before using. Use a small cycle and wash with detergent. Toss your fabric in the dryer or hang it out to dry.

    • 2

Cut a large square out of your fleece or old blanket. An average sized pet rat will be more than comfortable in a hammock that measures 12-by-15 inches. A larger rat will need a larger hammock.

    • 3

Cut a small hole in each corner. Allow plenty of fabric around the hole so that it will not tear under the weight of your pet.

    • 4

Make a loop with your string in the center of its length. Put the loop through the hole. Pull your strings through the loop on the other side and these strings will be used to secure your hammock to the cage. Repeat with the other holes.

Install your hammock, tying the strings to the sides or top of your cage, and gently place your rat in it. Give her some gentle words of encouragement and in no time, she will be there every time you look in the cage.
