How far can rats see?

Rats' eyes are located on the sides of their heads and they have a visual field of almost 360 degrees. However, they are not very good at making out small details. Rats are near-sighted, meaning they can only see objects clearly that are close to them. They can see things up to eight inches away clearly. Beyond eight inches, their vision becomes blurry and they can only see shapes and colors.
