How do rats clean?

Rats are meticulous animals and spend a significant amount of time grooming themselves. They have five claws on their front feet and four claws on their hind feet, and some rats use these claws to clean themselves. They will wash their faces and bodies with their paws and water. They will also lick their fur and use their claws to scratch and groom it.

Rats also have scent glands on their bodies. They will use these scent glands to mark their territory and to communicate with other rats. They will rub their scent glands against objects or rub against other rats to deposit their scent.

Rats are very clean animals and take great care to groom themselves. This is important for their health, as it helps to keep their fur free of dirt and debris and helps to prevent disease.
