How to Hang Glass in a Terrarium

If you want to add an extra flair of decoration to your terrarium, consider hanging some dangling glass inside it. The glass gives an extra decorative touch you may not get from the plants or animals that reside inside the terrarium. When you hang the glass pieces correctly, they will not interfere with the specimens kept inside the terrarium. As the specimens grow inside the terrarium, however, you may need to remove the dangling pieces of glass to keep the specimens safe.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase small suction cups strong enough to hold the hanging glass but not so large that they will obstruct the view of the terrarium's interior. They should also have a small ring on the top part of the suction cup where you can attach a string.

    • 2

Measure the distance from the top of the terrarium to the length in which you would like to hang your glass. This distance determines the length of the string used to hang the glass.

    • 3

Cut a piece of fishing wire the length you require. Make the cut a little longer than you need to compensate for the string you will devote to knots.

    • 4

Drill a small hole through the top part of the glass you will hang. The hole only needs to be large enough to allow you to thread the fishing wire.

    • 5

Tie one end of the fishing wire to the glass. Tie the other end to the small ring on the top of the suction cup.

    • 6

Open your terrarium (quickly capture any animals you have inside the terrarium before they have a chance to escape). Stick the suction side of the suction cups to the top of the terrarium. Press down on them until they stick in place securely.

    • 7

Close the terrarium carefully (replace any animals or plants you removed beforehand). If you close it too quickly, the glass may swing to one side of the terrarium and break.
