What kind of mammal is a rodent?

Rodents are a group of mammals that are part of the order Rodentia. They are not a single species of mammal.

Here are some characteristics of rodents:

* Two large, continuously growing incisor teeth in the front of their mouths (which they need to constantly gnaw on to wear down)

* Small, furry body

* Long tail (often hairless)

* Herbivorous diet (mostly seeds, nuts, and other plant material)

Examples of rodents include:

* Mice

* Rats

* Squirrels

* Beavers

* Guinea pigs

* Hamsters

* Rabbits (though technically they are lagomorphs, not rodents)
