Are platypuses carnivores herbivores or omnivores?
Platypuses are omnivores. They primarily feed on macroinvertebrates, such as insect larvae, freshwater shrimps, and sometimes small fish and tadpoles. They are also opportunistic feeders and have been known to consume plant material, such as algae, when their primary food sources are scarce. Platypuses use their unique electrolocation sense to locate their prey in dark, murky waters, and their specialized bill is adapted for catching small prey.
