Do skunks ever run out of spray?

Skunks don't literally "run out" of spray, but they can exhaust their supply!

Here's how it works:

* Limited supply: Skunks have a limited amount of spray they can produce. It's not a bottomless well.

* Stressful situations: When a skunk feels threatened, it uses its spray as a defense mechanism. If it sprays repeatedly in quick succession, it can deplete its supply.

* Recovery time: It takes a skunk a few weeks to replenish its spray. This means that if they've been spraying frequently, they might be less likely to use it in the future, even if threatened.

Important note: Even if a skunk has recently sprayed, it's best to avoid it. They'll often spray as a warning even if they have a limited supply.

Safety Tip: If you encounter a skunk, back away slowly and don't make sudden movements. If you have a pet, keep them away from the skunk as well.
