What is the defence mechanism used by a skunk?
A skunk uses a unique defence mechanism when threatened. It can spray a foul-smelling liquid from specialised glands located under its tail. This pungent and irritating odour serves as a deterrent to predators and can cause discomfort or even temporary blindness if it gets into the eyes of an attacker. The unpleasant smell lingers for a long time and is difficult to remove, effectively discouraging predators from pursuing the skunk.
