How to Get Rid of Mojave Rattlesnakes

Most people are terrified of even gardener snakes, but Mojave rattlesnakes pose a real danger. They have neurotoxins in their venom, which can paralyze and eventually kill you in a matter of hours. Mojave rattlesnakes grow up to 4 feet long and have a green tint. Their tails have wide white bands. They make their home in the southwestern portion of the United States. It is extremely important to get rid of them if they inhabit your home or other areas.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut your grass regularly and remove any lumber or rock piles. Removing places for the rattlesnake to hide helps in deterring them.

    • 2

Seal all openings that are larger than one-fourth of an inch. Fill the openings with silicone caulk. Rattlesnakes need shelter from extreme temperatures and find cool areas to hide.

    • 3

Exterminate small rodents on your property. Rattlesnakes enter your property in search of food. Eliminating their food source deters the rattlesnakes as they will go elsewhere to eat.

    • 4

Strike the rattlesnake with a shovel. Rattlesnakes are extremely quick. The best chance of killing the rattlesnake is striking directly on its head. Stay still because snakes normally move to other areas if they are left alone. Only strike it as a last resort.

Call a professional exterminator or your local animal control. They can remove the rattlesnake from the premises without killing it.
