DIY Snake Hook

Handling a snake can be dangerous depending on its size, weight and whether or not it is venomous. Snake handlers have long used a snake hook to provide a safe distance between them and the snake while still being able to manipulate it. Some snakes can strike up to two-thirds their body length so keeping at least one body length between you and the snake is best. If you do not have a professional snake hook available, one can be fashioned from household items.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the paint roller from the arm of the roller handle.

    • 2

Remove the plastic roller from the arm of the roller handle. This will leave only the metal arm at the end of the roller handle. The small, metal arm of the corner roller is the right size for handling a snake.

    • 3

Thread the broomstick into the bottom of the handle to add length to the snake hook.
