How to Clean the Glass on a Snake's Cage

Snake cages can get dirty quickly. Fingerprints, oils, snake skin and even snake urine will cloud the glass and make it unattractive. Cleaning the glass of a snake's cage is not difficult but requires a little more effort than cleaning most other types.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the snake from the tank and place it in a cardboard box. Never clean the glass with the snake in the tank. This may cause unnecessary stress to the animal.

    • 2

Fill a bucket with warm water and add a dash of antibacterial soap. Mix it around into a lather.

    • 3

Wipe down the interior of glass walls of the tank with the soft side of the sponge lathered in soap. This will kill any germs that have accumulated over the glass since its prior cleaning.

    • 4

Dry off any water or soapy residue with a dry rag. Make sure not to leave any residue that the snake could accidentally ingest.

    • 5

Spray the exterior glass walls with a small amount of glass cleaner and wipe them down with some paper towels until the surface is clean and shiny.

    • 6

Test the interior walls with your finger to make sure they are completely dry and then place the snake back into the tank.
