How to Prevent Spiders

Keeping spiders away can be particularly bothersome, especially if they lay eggs either in your home or nearby. Spiders tend to flourish during the summer and autumn months. Moreover, these arachnids are frequent visitors to many buildings, where it is warm and they can find a dark place to lay their eggs. However, if you stick to a daily cleaning routine, you can help keep unwanted spiders away.

Instructions

Regular dusting around your house can help prevent spiders.

Clean your house every day, and keep it dust-free. Use a duster on the ceiling, and if you notice a spiderweb, take it down right away, and vacuum the area to get rid of any spider eggs. Vacuum under other areas spiders are attracted to, such as under your bed and beneath any rugs.

Keep any house plants in well-lit areas, and do not let them get too damp so as not to attract any spiders. Do not let outdoor plants grow onto the side of your house, because this will stop any spiders from crawling off the plant and finding a way inside the house.

Observe your house for any small cracks and holes, as well as gaps in your doors and windows, where spiders can enter. Seal these using caulk.

Keeping your clothes off the floor will stop any spiders from crawling inside them.

Wash your clothes regularly, as spiders are attracted to clothes that have been left untouched in a dark area such as a laundry basket. Don't leave clothes or shoes on the floor, where spiders can find them; instead, keep them in drawers or plastic containers. Shake all clothing before washing or wearing.

Every few days, light some peppermint oil incense around the house, and splash some lemon grass oil on windows and doors. Peppermint and lemon grass are natural insect repellents and will deter any spiders from entering your house.
