"Camel spider" is a common name for a type of arachnid called Solifugae. More than 1,000 known species of Solifugae exist, many growing as large as 6 inches long. Although they are most notorious as desert dwellers, these eight-legged predators are also found in forests and grasslands. Although they look like spiders, they are from a different subclass of arachnids and are more closely related to scorpions. In the wild, Solifugae eat a variety of prey, from small insects to lizards and mice. Feeding pet camel spiders is a simple procedure.
