Are dark red and lots of spots ladybugs poisonous?

Ladybugs, scientifically known as Coccinellidae, are generally not considered poisonous to humans. They do not have venom glands or poisonous secretions. However, some ladybug species may have a high concentration of defensive chemicals called alkaloids in their body fluids, which can cause mild skin irritation or discomfort if handled roughly or crushed. These alkaloids can also have a foul taste, which discourages predators from eating them. The color and number of spots on ladybugs do not indicate their toxicity.
