When can you start giving water to baby gray squirrels?

Baby gray squirrels should not be given water until they are weaned. This is typically around 10-12 weeks of age.

Here's why:

* Mother's milk: Baby squirrels receive all the hydration and nourishment they need from their mother's milk.

* Risk of aspiration: Young squirrels lack the coordination to drink from a dish or bottle without accidentally inhaling water, which can be fatal.

* Digestive system: Their digestive systems are not fully developed and may not be able to handle water effectively.

Instead of giving water, focus on providing the mother squirrel with a safe and abundant food source. This will ensure the babies get the nourishment they need.

If you find a baby squirrel that appears to be orphaned or in distress, please contact a wildlife rehabilitation center immediately. They will be able to provide the proper care for the young animal.
