Things You'll Need
- Pliers
- Wire coat hanger
- Corn on the cob
Instructions
Straighten the wire hanger. Unwind the wire that is wrapped around the base of the hanger̵7;s hook with pliers. Keeping the hook in place, use your hands to unfold and straighten all other bends.
Use wire cutters to cut off the spindly part of the wire that was wrapped around the base of the hook.
Grab a hold of the end of the wire opposite the hook with pliers. Holding the wire in one hand and the pliers in the other, wrap the wire around the pliers to make two tight circles. These circles will be the base of the feeder and will hold the nose of the corncob and prevent it from falling to the ground.
Use your hands to continue spiraling the wire in concentric circles. Continue making successive circles that are just large enough to fit a corncob. You are making a spring-like shape. Leave the hook end sticking straight up.
Insert the corncob into the spiral.
Use the hook end to hang the corncob on a branch or rail, where it will be accessible to the squirrels.
